Vietnam & China Student Perspectives
2019 Trip Perspectives
The Innovation Abroad trip to China and Vietnam was a great opportunity to visit two countries with very different governments, cultures, and business practices than ours. The trip was a great combination of company visits and cultural activities, like museum tours, a cooking class, and sightseeing. The most rewarding aspect, in my opinion, was getting the chance to see how the history and culture of China and Vietnam have affected their government and their business practices. The most fun I had on the trip was visiting all the markets and seeing firsthand how people buy and sell things. I definitely recommend this trip because I don't think I would have ever traveled to Asia if I didn't go with this program.

The China/Vietnam trip was honestly eye opening. Obviously getting exposed to new cultures is amazing, but that is a given with any study abroad. Being able to see firsthand how different styles of governing and management play out really put into perspective how different everything is from country to country. While we have a system that works here in America, both the Chinese and Vietnamese have systems that while foreign to us work equally well. Probably my favorite part of the trip was being able to take a day trip to Hong Kong, although just being able to see the scale of infrastructure in China was also amazing.

This program was a once in a lifetime experience that gave me the opportunity to explore a part of the world I never imagined I'd see. It perfectly mixed business with culture and tourism to give us a great overall view of the countries we visited and let us both see the best tourist sites while also immersing ourselves deeper. There was also a great balance of planned excursions and freedom to explore that added to the fun and adventure. Overall, being involved in this program led to one of the best summers I've had.
